Session Overview

This session is designed to explore the evolution of risk management within the regulatory landscape and its positioning within entities operating in the financial services sector. It will also provide an overview of the upcoming regulatory changes and expectations.

During the session, Deloitte’s report on ‘the future of risk in financial services’ will be presented, followed by a panel discussion between key industry players. The past and future evolution of risks within the industry will be tackled from various perspectives to provide unique insights to the risk management field. The primary outcome of the panel will be to conclude how institutions can optimise entity-wide operations from a risk management perspective.

Speaker: Mr Adam Karl Farrugia

Adam is a manager at Deloitte, working within the risk advisory team. His main area of expertise is the banking industry, with a particular focus on the quantification of risk, risk management, financial modelling, ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan and banking regulatory requirements. Prior to joining Deloitte, Adam worked within the risk function at a number of banks, where he designed and compiled ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan methodologies and documents. Throughout his career he was engaged in creating various risk models. In addition to his extensive experience within the Banking sector, Adam was also involved in the funds industry, where he provided a wide range of risk services to clients.

Adam is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta delivering lectures within the Banking & Finance as well as the Insurance & Risk Department. Adam also sits on the Board of the Malta Association of Risk Management (MARM).
